Greek Easter Cookies
4 1 / 2 cups flour
Cup butter 1 / 2 – softened
1 cup sugar
1 / 2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg – beaten
In a bowl – or better yet, a drummer – cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add milk and vanilla. In another bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Slowly add the dry ingredients and wet ingredients. Mix well. Take a small amount of dough and roll it between your palms until you have a beautiful rope about 15 inches long. So you have two options:
1) make ends meet with his rope, and then press together. Then rotate the rope reel up.
2) Wrap the rope to the right up the middle, the lower half of the left.
Place on a greased cookie sheet. Tapas brush cookies with beaten egg and sprinkle with chopped almonds.
Bake at 350 degrees F. 15-18 minutes.
